    Anti-Vibration System
STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.

    STIHL ElastoStart™
The ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive feature of STIHL. It is a starting grip with a built-in shock absorber that helps reduce the effort when pulling on the starter cord. The ElastoStart™ starter grip noticeably reduces the sudden peak forces (compression) normally felt during cranking. The forces which occur at the grip after the first compression stroke are smoothed out.
  • Zoom
    IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor
The IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged and maintains the engine’s correct RPM. IntelliCarb™ uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and flow of fuel. As the air filter becomes dirty and less air is available for the carburetor, the IntelliCarb™ system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the decrease in air flow. This is in contrast to typical carburetors that utilize this air from the “dirty” side of the air box.
  • Zoom
    Side-Access Chain Tensioner
The side-access chain tensioner makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench as opposed to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.
  • Zoom
    STIHL Quickstop®
STIHL chainsaws are equipped with a chain stopping system designed to reduce the risk of injury in certain kickback situations. It is called a STIHL Quickstop® chain brake. The STIHL Quickstop® chain brake is designed to stop the rotation of the chain if activated by the operator’s hand or by inertia if the saw kicks back with sufficient force. In some working positions, the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake can be activated by inertia, stopping the chain within fractions of a second.

    Ematic™ Lubrication System
The Ematic™ guide bar, when used with STIHL OILOMATIC® saw chain, will provide proper lubrication and less oil consumption than conventional methods. The system works because two ramps, strategically placed in the guide bar rail, help contain the flow of oil and direct all lubrication to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links as well as the rivets and driver holes, which in turn can reduce bar oil consumption up to 50%.
  • Zoom
    Master Control Lever™
The Master Control Lever™ is an easy to use single lever, operating the choke, starting throttle lock and on-off switch. The operator must pull the throttle trigger before moving the Master Control Lever™ to the choke position.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This saw is junk Very hard to start and when it does start as soon as the fuel empties out of the prime ball it will die and it will not start back I have had it back to the dealer numerous time they have replaced the carburetor and the fuel lines and it did not help it I have had no service out of it and would not buy another

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 1 day old and will not start I purchased the STIHL MS 211 18" yesterday morning. Halfway through cutting apart the remains of a fallen tree it stopped working–It was impossible to start. After a bit of research I found this model has given many others similar challenges. I tried a few recommended solutions to no avail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One awesome saw I have three other larger Stihl saws but I wanted a smaller saw to limb and cut smaller wood. Now I find I use the MS211 over half the time for everything since it is so easy to use and cuts awesome. I don't understand the hard starting mentioned by some. The saw when cold starts on about the third pull and after warm starts on the first pull every time. Once the saw pops the first time turn the choke off and it will start easily. The saw will sit and idle forever, never dies. Excellent power for a small saw. Its amazing how it cuts fairly large stock even hardwood like oak. I am very pleased with this saw and would buy again. Excellent product as with all Stihl saws that I have owned. Stihl beats them all. Thank you for such a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stout little saw Already have an 031AV, MS290, and MS362CM. Needed something small for some brush and limbing. Couldn't believe the power in this little saw. And just for you reviewers who have starting issues with any of these saws I have to say that the issues aren't with the saws but with the inexperienced or uneducated users. My experience has been that if you have problems starting a Stihl, you probably should be paying someone more qualified to use it for you

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Half-Decent, but too, too difficult to start I've had this saw for a few years, for general use around the few acres of property I live on. In that time I've only used it a few times because of it's extreme difficulty in starting. I'm 35, in good shape, and this thing will sap me to nothing in endless attempts to start over 35-45 minutes. Last night I needed to use the saw in an emergency, with a tree in my woods half-fallen and leaning precariously where it could fall on a shed. Well, 45 minutes later I had to give up after fighting the darn thing to even start again. It's at that point I went back inside and took some pictures of the saw to sell it. I realized that I never use the saw because of the hassle in starting it, and I always find another way to cut what needs to be cut down. I'm done fighting with something that won't work, and I'll definitely not be buying a Stihl saw to replace this one. The persistent oil leak doesn't help matters either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome saw Hurricane Irma had blown through our area. I was in need of a chainsaw. I went to my local Ace hardware store and they recommended this model to me. This saw was so easy to start. Most of the time it was only a half of a pull and it would start. I worked with this saw for 6 days straight and only had one time that it wouldn't start and that was because the air filter was clogged. Obtained a new one and it started right up

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cuts very well for a small saw i like the no tools required for the chain adjustment and the oil and fuel filling and the easy start is great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is made for a woman or novice at use of chain saws Too many safety features. For example, it won't cut straight through a piece of wood even when you first start and you put teeth in wood, the saw stops. Feature over compensates for any potential kick back even when first addressing wood. It is impossible to cut wood in a timely manner because saw keeps stopping and starting on any potential bind. I'm used to my old Stihl powering through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good light duty saw I bought my ms 211 today I cut up a 16 inch maple tree it cut right through with no problem or hesitation just a rooster tail of chips my first impression of this saw is very good let the saw do the work don't try to force it or it will bog down it starts easily. Runs great for a reasonable amount of money light and maneuverable just what I was looking for. I am very pleased with this saw

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I have found this saw to be very temperamental I'm not impressed with this saw what so ever. It is very temperamental. I have had it n the shop and it does run better but it is still the worst saw I have ever owned.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hard to start I spend 30-45 minutes before I get frustrated and grab a hand saw to go the work. I have bought it back to where I purchased it and they say nothing is wrong. Find another brand that will start in less than 10 minutes

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed in this saw. Small Chain makes paper thin cuts. I was severely disappointed in the performance of this saw. I thought I was making a step up from my MS 250 since the 211 has a little larger displacement and was the first saw on Stihl's list that showed an 18" bar as standard size. Boy was I wrong. 211 has a small narrow chain with no bite at all.I put a 250 sprocket on it and a 3/8" pitch aggressive chain and matching bar on it and made a decent saw out of It.
Date published: 2017-09-26
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Saw I purchased this saw just prior to Hurricane Irma and I'm glad I did! Trees were down everywhere after the storm in Florida. This saw is absolutely great. I pushed this saw to its limits. I probably cut larger trees than it was meant to be used for, but the saw preformed flawlessly! I cut up a large oak tree that had fallen across our road and the MS211 cut through the hard oak like butter! The saw was also pretty easy on the fuel--which surprised me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from MS 211 It leaks oil because oil pump hose is in bottom of tank and oil seeps around grommet and fills case. when you get done drain oil out of saw or pay 100 bucks for dealer to change it. I just did it myself but not everybody is a saw mechanic.
Date published: 2017-09-15
Rated 4 out of 5 by from MS 211 Good saw but tough to start This saw runs great once you get it started. It will kick your butt while you mess with starting it.
Date published: 2017-09-14
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't start I have never been able to start this chainsaw without first having to take it to the shop. It floods with only three pulls, but the shop does not know what to do, as three different people have told me three different methods to get it started. Extremely frustrating to say the least. The manual says "so easy a child can start it" but that is the furthest thing from the truth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight with plenty of power for limbing I was specifically looking for a reliable, lightweight saw for limbing trees brought down by storms. The MS211 has enough power and it's light weight reduces fatigue, allowing more energy to be devoted to untangling the brush. I am very pleased with this Stihl product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I really was looking for an 18 in electric, wanted something reliable and easy to use. I didn't want to spend a lot, but in the end decided I would give this a try. I must say I haaaatte primer bulbs.....ultimately that is why I didn't want gas but this only has a choke. starts great every time. Bonus:it is lighter than the electric I was looking at.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My oil tank hasnt leaked a drop After reading tons of reviews on this saw i was half scared to buy it because of everyone saying it leaks bar oil when sitting. Well mine has never ever leaked and i dont open the cap to vent pressure when im done either. This saw has cut thru black and honey locust with no problem. If you know how to use a saw right and not try to force it thru the tree itll cut anything. My local dealer didnt have the 18" bar on it as it says in the description because stihl just started putting the 18 on the 211 but i really dont think its have a problem spinnin an 18" chain mine has a 16" bar and i love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best homeowner's saw This is a great homeowner saw. It has great safety features. It is light weight and easy to handle, even in less than ideal conditions. Starts and runs like a dream. As you start to tackle jobs on the upper end of what a homeowner normally would tackle a slight lack of power is evident. But that is ok. Most of the jobs i perform this saw is more than enough for. I am very pleased with the Stilhl 211.
